Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Calibre 321 ‘Ed White’

The Iconic Calibre 321 Reborn – Omega worked for over 2 years to bring the 321 movement back to life, utilising tomography (digital scanning) of the movement within the Speedmaster worn by Gene Cernan in the Apollo 17 Nasa mission.

Following this extensive process, it was decided that the 321 would make its debut in a steel Speedmaster within a case that saw the recreation of another Omega icon; the ‘Ed White.’ This 39.7mm case was used during NASA’s first space walk with the original reference of 105.003. Recognising this historical piece, the re-released Ed White features the familiar black step dial with vintage Omega logo and the infamous ‘dot over 90’ on the bezel, but boasts the addition of a sapphire-crystal caseback to expose the re-imaged Calibre 321 within.

This Speedmaster is truly one of the most remarkable sports watches on the market today, both in terms of the craftsmanship and materials, but also the historical significance of the movement and the case. The process with which these Ed Whites are produced means that only an incredibly small number are made each year, with the same watch maker making the watch from start to finish.
