Omega Speedmaster Apollo 8 ‘Dark Side of the Moon’

The Dark Side of the Moon Speedmaster family acknowledges the astronauts from the Apollo 8 mission who were the first people to see this part of the moon of with their own eyes. Each piece in the family is crafted from a single block of black zirconium oxide ceramic, with a number of striking and now iconic references in the collection.

Arguably the most special reference in the collection is the Speedmaster Apollo 8, which combines the classic triple sub-dial Speedmaster design with the DSOTM ceramic case with larger 44.25mm diameter. The predominantly black case is contrasted with yellow detailing and complemented by a skeletonised movement that resembled the surface of the moon. This design is finished with a black leather strap with yellow rubber interior, a specially finished calibre 1869 movement and case-back with the infamous slogan; “we’ll see you on the other side.”

This Apollo 8 was supplied new to the UK market in May 2020 and enjoys Omega warranty until 2025. Upon our purchase, we had the watch inspected by Omega Regent St. who carried out a warranty check and service inspection to ensure adequate water resistance and time keeping. The piece presents in ‘unworn’ condition with the case, crystal, strap and clasp all being indistinguishable from new. As seen in the images, the watch is still stored in its Omega travel packaging or ‘blister pack’ and is accompanied by all boxes and accessories that it was supplied with.
